I joined the Royal Signals at Somme Lines Catterick in June 1954 for basic training. On completion was posted to 5TR Ripon for DR, Motorcycle and Driver training followed by attachment to Royal Signals Motorcycle Display Team for assessment and training. In March 1955 I was posted to 3GHQ Signal Regiment, Canal Zone Fayid followed by a posting to Cyprus in September again with 3GHQ accommodated at Kykko Camp Nicosia, working at Signal Centre/SDO at Wolsey Barracks. In November I was seconded to CRE Episkopi to set up and open a temporary SDO for the new Crown Base. January 1956 I rejoined 3GHQ upon its transfer from Nicosia to Episkopi.
Promotions: November 1955 Lance Corporal; August 1956 Corporal:
I left the service on the 27 June 1957.
